Does the stock market trend reflect the election polls?

mtsd5468 asked:

Someone pointed this out to me this morning.

“Since Osama has been ahead in the polls, the stock market has tanked.”

Even after the bailout was approved, the stock market should have improved. It did for one day. Than the polls started showing Osama ahead of McCain and the stock market tanked.

This person said: “We can throw all the money in the world at the problem, but the spector of Osama being President is driving the market south.”

Does this sound correct?

I don’t have any money directly in the market and follow it only from the side lines so to speak.

you cant argue with a 2000 point decline since obama started leading…investors know they will be punished if he wins

You can follow the market numbers for months before the bailout and notice the trend. Obama up = market down My brother who is trader pointed it out to me a couple of months ago. It is more dramatic now.
If Obama gets in there will be change but will it be good for the economy? I don’t think so.
